A great deal of time and money, as well as focus, has been spent on raising people’s self-esteem. Very little if any time or money has been spent on connecting a person to their higher self/soul/spirit. This supports the idea that human beings only operate on the surface and do not go to the depths of which they are capable. Depth in this case refers to the fact that human beings only use 10 to 12% of their brain capabilities and the depths of their soul/spirit.
Psychology has been focused on self-esteem way too long. In all of the years of study psychology has been relatively unsuccessful at creating human beings with high self-esteem. This fact proves that chasing high self-esteem is a rather poor approach to assist in the evolution of people or humanity. This has been a poor approach mainly due to the fact that it is limiting and leaves out the most important part of a human being and that is their soul/spirit.
It must be recognized that human beings are more than just human. They are spiritual beings having a human experience. Without the inclusion of this in the human growth or evolution the human being will always come up short of feeling fulfilled or complete.
Low self-esteem comes from beliefs you consciously or unconsciously form about yourself. It is commonly believed that if you do affirmations or emphasize your strong points you will raise your self esteem; the permanent reversal of low self-esteem comes from eliminating the beliefs that are the foundation of low self-esteem, not by putting positive ones over them. A very important piece that supports this change is the connection to a person’s inner spirit or soul.
It is like painting on a rotted board (negative beliefs); the paint (positive beliefs) will stick for a while, but will begin to peel off very soon. The paint/positive thoughts would look very nice for a while but in the short time when it peels off it will reveal the rotten board/ negative beliefs that were hiding underneath the positive thinking It is our opinion that positive beliefs are inherent and surface once the negative ones are removed.
To change low self-esteem you must look at the beliefs you have about your self that created it. Do you believe you are not smart enough? Good enough? Pretty enough? What are the beliefs that keep you believing you don’t measure up?
Admitting what you really think about yourself is the first step.
The idea of self-esteem can be disregarded as self-esteem is really only how the ego feels about itself. Self-esteem has nothing to do with the connection of your ego/humanity with your spirit/soul. The ego merging with the soul or spirit is the only thing that will ever bring total fulfillment to you as a human being. Chasing self-esteem is and endless management skill that is quite exhausting and never ending. High self-esteem comes naturally when you become connected to your soul/spirit with a functional human personality. The only way to achieve what appears to be high self-esteem is when you focus on the elimination of beliefs, perceptions and knowings that interfere with your clarity of self. This allows the integration of their spirit/soul with their human experience/ego.
Clearing the beliefs and negative aspects of your self allows you to automatically connect with your higher self/soul/spirit. The connection of your higher self with their human awareness is is the only way to achieve permanent change.
To gain some insight on yourself use the questions below as a worksheet to begin to get an idea of some of the beliefs you have. By answering the questions you will begin to see attitudes and perceptions that you carry with you. After you have answered the questions refer to the book The 55 Concepts and use the concepts to gain further insight on yourself. This is just the beginning is a process that also is an adventure it is called… self discovery.
